Every year the DAAD (German academic exchange service) have a meeting for their RAMP mentorship program.
I have been lucky enough to have been involved for the last three years. The first year as a prospective mentee and the second year giving a presentation about my successful mentor relationship.
This year I was given the opportunity to run a workshop on communication strategies for academics. As these meetings involve researchers from all levels of academia, all disciplines, and from all across Australia I was unsure of where to start!
So I put together a survey using SurveyMonkey to get an idea of what the attendees would most like to hear about. Out of around 60 attendees I received 42 responses, so at least I already knew that I would have an engaged audience!
I have filled in surveyMonkey surveys before, but this is the first time I have made one myself, I was really impressed with how easy it was and how quickly I could put together a really smart looking survey with the free options available.
Here’s an overview of the responses:
The workshop was a great learning experience for me (and hopefully the attendees!). I will write another post on the material that we covered
